When I read Asahi Weekly (August 2, 2020), I learned the ‘re-entry’ problem for foreign nationals. According to the article, Japan was the only Group of Seven nation to deny re-entry for those with permanent resident status. A translator interviewed in the article said, “I guess permanent residents will always be only second-class citizens”.
Under Covid-19 pandemic, we must decide many things although we don’t know the right answer. I know it is hard, but we should explain to persuade the others. It would be better if the government had given reasonable explanations to avoid making non-Japanese feel discriminated.
